The Unknown Universe

March 21, 2015 – January 10, 2016

The annual exhibition 2015 of the Waldviertel Art Museum leads into the inconceivable dimensions of the unknown universe and mysterious formations in space.

Energy and power, matter and light, black holes. The imagination of art gives us an understanding of a world that is light-years away. A fascinating world of images that even astonishes astrophysicists.

"The universe has fascinated people and cultures ever since. To me as an artist the universe is an unlimited source of inspiration and countless surprises: the encounter with wondrous phenomena of light, a search for mysterious formations in space and the discovery of new colours and forms, new forms of life.“ Makis Warlamis

"Every creature, all of us, are part of the inconceivable universe. The fascinating images of Prof. Makis Warlamis, the staging, films and the sounds of the spheres unite us with this unknown world with which we are still familar deep inside.“ (B. Antoni, curator)

We would like to invite you to a short virtual tour through the exhibition:

The exhibition has been realized in collaboration with scientists from several fields of astrophysics and medical science (radiation physics, radiation biology and experimental physics).
